Deconstruction & Reconstruction

Exploring why people deconstruct their faith, and how reconstruction is possible.

Have you ever found yourself doubting elements of your faith? Maybe you have even contemplated walking away from Christianity or faith or the church entirely. Or are you walking alongside a friend or family member who is in a season of questioning faith? Many Christians wrestle with doubts, hard questions, and a changing relationship with the beliefs they once held firmly. This experience is often called deconstruction.

In this three-week class, we’ll explore different forms of deconstruction, why so many people go through it, and how doubt can be part of a healthy, growing faith. Together, we’ll reflect on our own stories, look at some big cultural influences, and consider practices that will help us (and those we love) to reconstruct a faith that is both honest and strong.

Our guide for the journey will be A.J. Swoboda’s After Doubt: How to Question Your Faith Without Losing It. Each week we will use this book as a jumping-off point for discussion and personal reflection.

· This class is intended for all, with some or advanced biblical proficiency
