Discipleship Institute : At the Table and On Our Knees

How does the Lord's Supper give us hope during seasons of suffering? And how do we pray to God when he feels hidden? Come reflect upon these questions together.

Discipleship Institute is offering a two-night teaching exploring the questions of hope in the midst of suffering.

  • Night One (Nov. 9): Feasting on Hope

This one-night teaching will help you explore the ways the Lord's Supper gives God's people a hope during times of suffering. The Lord's Supper is more than a sermon illustration or mere ritual that we perform. Rather, the Lord's Supper is crucially about something God does: he sets a table for his people. When we eat and drink, we reenact the story of redemption and rehearse the abundant feast that awaits us in the New Creation.

  • Night Two (Nov. 16): How to Pray When God Feels Hidden

Have you ever felt like God is hidden when you need him most? If so, you're not alone. In fact, many of our psalms wrestle with this mystery. And what's so profound, is that the psalms have been part of the church's worship throughout her history. Which means, our brothers and sisters learned--by use of praying and singing the psalms--what it looks like to pray to God even when he feels absent. This one-night teaching will meet you where you are and give you vital reflections for approaching God when all hope feels lost.
