"Our Father in heaven ... "

What pops into your head the moment you read these opening words from the Lord's Prayer?  Maybe Chris Tomlin's song, "Good, Good, Father," or maybe memories of your dad?

For a first-century Jew, his or her imagination would've likely gone back to Exodus 4:22-23 where God says, "Israel is my firstborn son ... 'Let my son go that he may serve me.'" Even in the Old Testament, God was Father

In this class, we'll walk through every line in the Lord's Prayer because each one links the reader back to the Exodus story and Israel's hopes for a New Exodus. Sure enough, Israel's hopes are realized in the ministry of Jesus. The prayer Jesus taught his disciples to pray – and us by extension – is an "Exodus-shaped prayer" for an "Exodus-shaped people."

This one-night teaching will take you deep into the Old Testament roots of the Lord's Prayer. Not only this, you'll learn how the Lord's Prayer offers you a paradigm for prayer and faithful living.

The class is taught by Tim Davis.
