Nashville Serving Day 3
Today was a pretty sweet day. We kicked off with a morning devo led by Cale in the parking lot of our hotel, talking and praying over the day. Then we headed to Glenveiw Elementary school to help serve there. We split into teams to be more efficient; I got the privilege of serving in both teams. Starting out in the garden we pulled weeds and mulched several garden beds. Then we planted and watered all sorts of plants, ranging from sweet potatoes to sunflowers. Our team leader from the elementary school (Mr Green) tasked us with repairing hoses which was an interesting and useful skill that we picked up together as a small team. After lunch I got the opportunity to serve inside and scrub the walls, they were filthy because they had never really been cleaned. I was used for my hight to reach and clean the space above the doors. After we had a method down (thanks to Emma and Mj) we worked fairly quickly. After all the work was done we headed back to our rooms for another devotional and discussion time. Then we headed to the church.
Helping lead a group of 3rd-5th graders during “kids week” once we got the church was an absolute blast. We, as a team, got to see kids come out and interact with us personally more than the day before. We played games, worshiped, and did crafts with the kids while showing them more of who God is. The worship was enthusiastic and is very different from what is considered normal at Woodmen. It’s significantly smaller, and yet, has all the hype. The kids also got to meat several “undercover FBI agents” who have helped out as our security team for the camp, shout out to agents Drew and Luke. After the kids were gone and we had some hot food in us we settled down to reflect on the events of the day. We shared a sweet time of worship as we recognized our need for the Lord, and that we need to trust in him. We then heard several powerful testimonies, including from Cole and Merlinda. After some personal reflection, I think that today was about learning how to have patience in the ways that God will show up in our lives.
Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!
