Nashville Serving Day 4
We had a great day today! To start the morning we had a quick devotional in the hotel parking lot. We then made the drive over to Ella’s House, a home for college age single mothers. We then formed teams to complete a variety of tasks including weeding, cleaning toys, creating signs, and refinishing furniture. It was really fun towards the end when everyone was working on the table together sanding and scraping paint. It was great to see the difference we made at the end of it, and great to see our impact on the people we were serving.
Following our work at Ella’s house, we headed into downtown Nashville where we went to Prince’s Hot Chicken to get, as you could have guessed, hot chicken. Each person was able to decide what kind of chicken they wanted, then customize the spice to their liking. Everyone was entertained by the handful of boys who tried the spiciest option of wings. We then went back to the hotel where we read the devotional and journaled for a few minutes before discussing with our leaders.
We then drove back to Proclamation church to finish our job of cleaning out rooms, where we took all of the previously removed items and put them in a dumpster. This required lots of teamwork, and although it was very tiring, we had fun figuring out how to breakdown and fit the various items. We then moved on, and continued helping out at VBS. It was awesome because by the third day, kids were remembering their leaders and becoming more comfortable with everyone helping out. It was extremely fun to interact with them through meals, games, crafts, skits, and classroom time. To finish out the day we had worship, then Erin, Cameron, Sienna, and Cale shared their testimonies. We are now over half way through our trip, feeling good, and working hard!
