Mexico June 25 Day 5
Friday the 27th was a more restful day, as it was our tourist day. We began with breakfast as usual, then prepped for a 2-hour-long car ride up to San Cristobal, which is a tourist town up in the mountains of Chiapas. On the ride up, some of us sang, some read, some played games, and some caught up on the sleep that we’ve missed. After we got there, we walked to a market where there were lots of different items, such as jewlery, stuffed animals, hats, shirts, toys, and things such as those. After splitting into groups and spending two hours wandering through the maze of shops, we reconvened and traveled a couple blocks to lunch. Some of us got our food and ate, while others had their food accidently eaten by other people. No real harm done, though. Everyone ate their fill, and then went out for ice cream and coffee before heading back to the vans for the long journey back to the base. It was raining as we left, and it only got worse as we traveled down the mountain through the clouds. But after a couple hours and more than one bathroom break, we arrived back at base and had a short debrief, which included a debriefing by Richard followed by two testimonies. And so, as day number 5 draws to a close, we look back on what God has done so far here though us and look forward to what he’s going to do in these last few days. May the grace of God and the love of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit be with us all. God bless you, dear reader, and Buenos Noches. -Isaac N Taylor
