Zambia JULY 2025

Dear diary,

Today was full of miracles! We were expecting to run the Beit CURE chapel this upcoming Friday but, yesterday at lunch we discovered we had been moved to running the Wednesday chapel service...we had less than 24 hours to prepare. Caroline and Isaac felt led to teach and share testimonies during the staff and patient services, while Daniel prepared to lead the worship. We had an extra early wake-up this morning in order to make it over to the chapel in time where we would put in all of hard effort. Emma was quickly thrown into leading Woodmen Worship's song "All My Life" and she KILLED IT!  While Brekken was the MC of the service making sure it ran smoothly. Caroline preached on Ecclesiastes chapter 3 about finding hope and joy in the Lord through every season of our lives. After all of the staff scrambled out of the chapel families and children flooded in for the patient service. Isaac jumped in to share about the gospel and told bits and pieces of his testimony. The Lord worked through Isaac as his testimony influenced several parents to give their life to Jesus!! Our team quickly volunteered to go pray for each and every single one of the those who gave their life to Jesus. While some of the team helped with counseling 2 mothers about their faith, Shelby felt influenced to share her testimony as well. After sharing her testimony a little boy ran up to hug her which made overfilled with joy. Daniel once again was our musical enthusiast and lead the patient service in more worship songs, he killed it (shocker) while the rest of his backup choir (the rest of our team) struggled immensely.

After both chapel services we did our daily group split into different service groups. Brekken and Jackson got the opportunity to sit in on a surgery to help heal a kid's club foot. After learning that Brekken has her EMT license the surgeon invited her to assist him in the surgery, so she helped hold the sutures and retracted the retracter (she is asleep so we don't know the technical term...apologies). While Brekken was playing surgeon Jackson was in the back of the room fighting the urge to pass out. Shelby and Daniel were in the pre-op room praying/encouraging kids and their families before the child goes into surgery. Caroline, Emma, Isaac, and Madi were in the ENT/ Orthopedic clinics giving crayons, coloring sheets, and bubbles to families in the waiting room. Madi was able to share the Gospel with a teenager. During all of this craziness Micah and Lauren were hopping around checking on all areas, besides the surgery for obvious reasons, making sure that all of us were taken care of.

Post split we all met up again to support the grounds staff in weeding around the solar panels. After spending some time in the dirt, we headed off to lunch where we were able to continue to "perfect" the art of eating with nshima. Our team enjoyed quick break before heading of to a large secondary school in the area.

There we were able to play soccer and frisbee with the kids for a little bit before it was time to perform. What, you may ask? A skit about the story of the good Samaritan. One we have never practiced or even read through before. We walked into a room with at least over one hundred kids. The skit was successfully performed with an outcome of many laughs from a classroom full of kids. Caroline jumped at the opportunity to preach again for the class. When she finished, we walked out of the classroom and saw over a thousand kids (no joke!) waiting for us to perform and preach for them as well. It went incredibly well, and it even ended in everyone joining Caroline in prayer, repeating every word she said. We quickly left the swarm of children with waves and blown kisses goodbye following our van.

When dinner time arrived, we went out to a place called Prime Joint where we enjoyed such sweet fellowship over delicious food and awesome sauce milkshakes. As we were singing along to the live band we soon realized a classic had begun, "Roar" by Katy Perry. Caroline, Daniel, Emma, and Shelby were singing so loudly at their table that the singer invited them up to the microphone to perform the entire restaurant. Our giggles were definitely audible.

After a long day we were able to see what amazing things God did at CURE and the school even without our full preparation. We learned what it is truly like to lean on the Lord.

Peace out girlscouts and boyscouts!

- Shelby, Emma, and Caroline
