Estonia Day 1 - Chasing the Sunrise to Estonia
Travel Days are a funny thing when you are ‘time traveling’! We chased the sunrise today – we saw the sun rise on our way to the Denver airport as we left Thursday morning and we saw the sun rise over the Netherlands on our way to Estonia on Friday morning (and it felt like one day)! There was a certain excitement and anticipation today tempered only by the fatigue of crossing multiple time zones after an early morning start!
Highlights of the day included:
-Watching our students give up the preferred seats on planes to sit next to team members who didn’t want to be alone next to a stranger for a long flight.
-Picking paint chip colors that represented our walk with Jesus right now in life...and talking about the importance of "realness."
-Being welcomed by the Josiah Venture Staff and Interns with warm smiles and a big sign at the Tallinn Airport.
-Trying to use google maps to find a grocery store, but ending up at some random house in the city…but finally finding the store to get a few snacks after an epically long day!
-Walking to dinner and enjoying a sweet time of fellowship with each other and the JV Staff and Interns! One adventurous student even tried fried squid rings!
-Listening to one of our students make up creative stories to explain the Estonian comic strip style social issue signs found in a park.
-Enjoying taking in the sights, feel, and experience of Old Town in Tallinn – including an overlook of the city and the sea!
-Hearing a short devo by Will encouraging the intentional act of “pausing” and enjoying being “present in the processing.”
For now, we are taking a pause that involves sleep. We are praying for our sleep to be restorative and solid so we can fully engage with our training for English Camp tomorrow before we had to our camp location!
Thanks for praying for us as we look for how God is inviting us into what He is doing here in Estonia!
